Strand: Prayer, Liturgy and Sacraments (PLSL9-10E2)

Levels 9 and 10

For Catholics, Eucharistic celebrations inform everyday life, making Christ present through them in a particular way, enabling the work of faithful people to shape the world in ways informed by God’s dream for the world.

From the perspective of the Catholic faith, discern and articulate the relationship between the Eucharist and how people of faith are called to be Eucharistic people in the world today.

Elaborations

Liturgy of the Word

− Proclaiming the Word: Christianity is not practiced in isolation but shared with others.

− Listening to the Word: reflecting on the Word, seeing its universal significance. Liturgy of the Eucharist − Giving of the gifts: realizing what gifts we have, and sharing them with the community. − Reflecting on our story, in the Eucharistic Prayer: seeing ourselves as part of a larger group, the people who have gone before us and the people who will follow. − Sharing the meal: sharing what we have so that all may have what they need.

Concluding rite

− Going out and making the difference: living out the ideals.

Celebration of the Eucharist is not complete unless it is lived out in the lives of the faithful, therefore upon leaving the celebration of the Eucharist, those who have gathered are told to take the Risen Jesus with them into their daily lives.
