Foundation
Christians believe that each person is unique, created in the image and growing in likeness of God, with responsibilities to the other.
Identify and describe ways in which Christians express love for God, self, others and creation.
Elaborations
Christians believe that humans are created in the image of God and forever grow in God’s likeness. This is a specific worldview and forms the basis of Catholic anthropology or understanding of the human person. Catholic social teaching informs the Catholic response. This specific worldview shapes the way in which people live in community, relate to each other and promote the good through works of justice and peace, through relationships with humans and the natural world.
Examples in Scripture include but are not limited to:
“I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49: 15-17).
